Brandi Z. Murrain is a dynamic trial attorney with broad experience in a wide variety of litigation matters. She focuses her current practice on the areas of white collar criminal defense, government and internal investigations, False Claims Act litigation, and complex civil litigation.

Brandi has guided clients in an extensive range of subject matters, including toxic tort, product liability, labor and employment, and complex commercial litigation. She has considerable experience taking and defending depositions, briefing and arguing dispositive motions, and implementing successful litigation strategies.

Brandi began her career as a prosecutor in the second largest prosecutor’s office in the United States. As a Cook County Assistant State’s Attorney, Brandi honed her trial skills by serving as first chair in over sixty bench trials and seven jury trials.

Brandi gained invaluable insight about the judicial decision-making process as a Judicial Extern for The Honorable John Robert Blakey in the U.S. District Court, Northern District of Illinois. As a Judicial Extern, Brandi assisted the court by analyzing legal arguments, conducting research, and drafting judicial opinions. Through the foregoing, Brandi learned effective litigation strategies that she now uses to defend her clients.

During law school, Brandi competed on Chicago-Kent’s nationally ranked trial team at the National Thurgood Marshall Mock Trial Competition and won the competition’s first-place Best Oral Advocate Award. She also served in the Burge Reparation Clinic where she investigated claims of torture by former Chicago Police Commander Jon Burge and recommended reparations when appropriate.
