On June 2, the Department of Justice announced the sentencing of Batyr Myatiev, of Florida, for conspiring to defraud the United States and conspiring to harbor aliens and induce them to remain in the United States.

According to court documents and statements made in court, between 2010 and 2020, Myatiev owned and operated several Key West staffing companies, including Best Results Total Services, Inc, Ameri Hosp LLC, and Golden Sands Management, LLC. These companies purportedly hired non-resident aliens to work in hotels, bars, and restaurants operating in Key West amongst other places. Myatiev allegedly encouraged workers to enter the United States illegally and induced them to remain in the country. Myatiev’s labor staffing companies paid alien workers without withholding federal income and employment taxes from their wages and did not report their wages to the IRS.

Myatiev was sentenced to two years and eight months in prison. In addition to the term of imprisonment, Myatiev was ordered to serve three years of supervised release and pay approximately $6,869,869.80 in restitution to the United States.
